Testimonials

At Elliot Acres it's important for us to know how our clients and volunteers feel about our riding program. We love hearing from them and learning how we have helped them improve not only their riding capabilities, but also their, physical, mental, emotional health.

Skyanna

Therapeutic horseback riding, Elliot Acres and Miss Deb’s caring guidance has been life changing for my daughter, Skyanna. It has been amazing watching  her grow and make progress in so many ways physically, emotionally and socially! Therapeutic riding is one of the only activities that truly challenges her postural control and core strength and her much needed perceptual-motor skills. And she absolutely loves it!!  Her self confidence has clearly grown. Skyanna has emotionally benefited as well - she states that “the ‘calm’ that she gains when she is with the horses remains with her throughout the week”.

I love going to Elliott Acres!  Horseback riding has helped me tremendously. Riding helps my body to be calm, and my mind to be calm as well. I love Deb and the volunteers and am so glad to have riding in my life.  I am grateful to all who participate to make riding possible for me.

William
We cannot recommend equestrian therapy at Elliott Acres highly enough!  It has benefited our son William (who has CP and I/DD) in so many ways.  Physically, riding has strengthened his torso and greatly improved his ability to sit upright and maintain a straight back; being in the saddle is also one of the best ways we’ve found to maintained flexibility and range of motion in his pelvis, hips and thighs (I believe that riding consistently from age 3, while his skeleton grew, has prevented more orthopedic surgeries).  Cognitively, from riding at Deb’s, William has learned to carry out multi-step sequences and better understand directions like right, left, back and forward.  His communication skills have improved both from directing his horse and from listening to Deb and his volunteers.  Perhaps most important, he has enjoyed relationships with all ‘his’ horses, volunteers and Deb and Ray.   Thank you, Elliott Acres!
